Mujeres en la Música was founded in 1989 and currently has more than 150 members that cover all types of musical and artistic fields: Composition, Interpretation, Musicology, Pedagogy, Cultural Management, etc. The purpose of the association is to enhance, disseminate and promote the presence of female Music professionals in history and today. Every year they schedule concerts and festivals in which works by authors from other eras and current ones are performed. The Getxo Women in Music Festival (Bilbao-Spain) and the “Women’s Music in the Classrooms” project stand out. They also organize meetings, round tables, presentations of books, albums… in order to publicize women’s literature and musical discography.
